This highly interactive course is addressed to those who are considering and evaluating the possibility of setting up a Shared Services Centre within their organisation. It will provide a fundamental step by step guide to explain the concept of Shared Services and equip the attendees with the necessary skills to set up a SSC that is efficient and cost effective.
Workshop B: Innovation & Growth for Matured Shared Services- Evaluating your Shared Services options as it mature (October 22 - 23, 2008)
This advanced level course is addressed to those who already have their shared services systems in place but need to update and/or review their existing systems to ensure higher ROI for their organisation. It is targeted to those who are already familiar with the SSC framework, a benchmarking exercise to assess their SSCs in relation to industry best practices and provide ideas for improving their functioning through a Balanced Scorecard approach.
Who will I meet and who is speaking?
Sarah Cotgreave is an internationally renowned expert on organisational change and shared services. She has led global procurement, outsourcing and eCommerce operations within leading multinationals and public sector organisations such as GE, Reuters and Salomon Smith Barney. She has transitioned operations to both nearshore and offshore shared service arrangements, including moves to lower cost locations. Sarah is also involved in restructuring costs, improving processes, quality and customer service.
During a recent major assignment within OGC buying solutions, a UK central government agency, Sarah implemented a web-based shared service used by more than 50 agencies to enable public procurement professionals and their suppliers to buy and sell online. This programme won the 2007 Government Computing Award for Innovation in Shared Services, was recognised by the UK National Audit Office as an example of a “Successful Change Programme enabled by IT” and was presented as a best practice to other European Union countries. Sarah also provided assistance on behalf of the UK Office of Government Commerce to the Cabinet Office Shared Service Team, which set the policy for the implementation of Shared Services across the UK Government as part of the UK Transfomational Government agenda. During this time, Sarah led seminars on improving shared services, particularly in the use of lean and six sigma process improvement techniques.
Sarah has an MBA in Financial Services, a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and PRINCE2 Practitioner.
